Intellectual Property & Copyright Enforcement Policy

Last updated: 31 January 2026

1. Purpose and Status of this Policy

This Intellectual Property & Copyright Enforcement Policy (the “Policy”) explains how QLTS School monitors and enforces compliance with the intellectual property and copyright obligations as set out in the Terms and Conditions of the Course (the “Terms and Conditions”).

2. Compliance with Copyright Law

Candidates entering the legal profession are expected to comply with applicable copyright and intellectual property laws. Unauthorised use of QLTS School materials also constitutes both a contractual breach and a copyright infringement.

3. Ownership of Course Materials

Per the Terms and Conditions:

  • All copyright in course materials is the property of QLTS School.
  • Course materials may not be reproduced, in whole or in part, by any method whatsoever without prior written permission.

Online materials are generally not downloadable or printable, except where expressly permitted by QLTS School.

4. Permitted Use of Materials

In accordance with the Terms and Conditions:

  • Each candidate’s account and course materials are provided for that candidate’s sole personal use.
  • Materials may not be shared, transferred, sold, licensed, or made available to any other person, by any means.

Course access is limited to the duration and scope specified in the Terms and Conditions.

5. Examples of Prohibited Conduct

The following conduct, while not an extensive list, would constitute a breach of the Terms and Conditions:

  • sharing login credentials or allowing third-party access;
  • copying, reproducing, screen-recording, photographing, or redistributing course materials;
  • uploading QLTS School materials to websites, forums, social media, or messaging platforms;
  • using course materials to train, tutor, or assist others;
  • accessing QLTS School accounts through third parties who are not QLTS School candidates intending to sit the examination;
  • enabling, facilitating, or assisting another person to access or use the materials, whether for evaluation, learning, or any other purpose.

This list is provided for illustrative purposes only, and does not limit the scope of the Terms and Conditions.

6. Monitoring and Technical Enforcement

As set out in the Terms and Conditions, QLTS School enforces its intellectual property rights by:

  • watermarking materials with the purchaser’s unique identifier;
  • monitoring login credentials, device identifiers, and access locations; and
  • investigating suspected unauthorised use, sharing, or distribution.

These measures are used solely to enforce contractual and legal rights.

7. Consequences of Breach

Where a breach of the Terms and Conditions is identified, QLTS School may exercise its contractual rights, including but not limited to:

  • suspension or termination of access to accounts;
  • denial of further services;
  • recovery of the full course fees for each unauthorised distribution; and
  • pursuit of any other remedies available under contract or law.

This Policy does not expand or limit those remedies.

8. Professional and Regulatory Implications

As a major legal education provider, QLTS School is aware of the Solicitors Regulation Authority’s (SRA) concerns regarding conduct involving dishonesty, misuse of materials, and improper communications.

The SRA has advised that individuals who engage in such behaviour may be regarded as lacking the integrity and honesty required of those seeking admission to the legal profession, as such conduct risks undermining public confidence in the profession.

Candidates should therefore be aware that serious or deliberate misuse of QLTS School materials — including unauthorised sharing, redistribution, or conduct involving dishonesty or deception — may raise issues relevant to professional standards and character.

QLTS School does not determine regulatory outcomes and does not act as the SRA. However, where conduct gives rise to legitimate concerns regarding integrity, honesty, or compliance with professional standards, such matters may be reported to the SRA.

Candidates are responsible for ensuring that their conduct, both during their studies and beyond, meets the standards expected by the SRA and other relevant professional bodies.

9. Interpretation and Governing Documents

In the event of any inconsistency between this Policy and the Terms and Conditions, the Terms and Conditions shall prevail.
