For more than 15 years, QLTS School has helped thousands of candidates prepare for the SQE and its predecessor, the QLTS — the exam SQE is closely based on. SQE preparation is our sole focus, and our materials are developed specifically for the assessment by tutors with deep SQE experience.
That focus shows in the results. Among QLTS candidates who completed 25 or more SQE1 mock tests and reported their results for the July 2023 SQE1 assessment, 94% passed — well above the SRA’s reported overall pass rate of 53% for the same sitting.
Mock practice is the single biggest driver of SQE pass rates, and the depth of our mock test library is the area where our 15+ years of QLTS/SQE experience runs deepest.
QLTS was the previous route to qualification in England and Wales for foreign lawyers. SQE replaced it in September 2021 as the single route to qualify, but the new assessment is closely based on the QLTS — the style, format and content are very similar.
That’s why we’re called QLTS School: our 15+ years preparing candidates for the QLTS is exactly the experience that helps candidates pass the SQE today.

Everyone’s different, but here’s a rough guide based on 15+ years of helping candidates prepare:
You can stretch this over a longer timeframe at fewer hours per week — and there’s no fixed enrolment date, so you can start whenever fits your schedule.
Our courses are deliberately built to support every learning style. Different candidates prepare in different ways — what works for one person may not work for another. Mock tests are the one universal must-do; beyond that, pick the resources that match how you actually study.
| Learning Style | How you study best | Resources to lean on |
| Visual | Flowcharts, mind maps, diagrams | SQE Video Library, flowcharts and diagrams in the summary notes, SQE1/SQE2 Analyser visuals |
| Auditory and verbal | Listening, discussion, audio | 200+ podcasts, video tutorials with tutor commentary, tutor consultation |
| Reading and writing | Reading text, writing notes | Textbooks, summary notes, practice MCQs with written explanations |
| Kinesthetic (learning by doing) | Active practice, simulation | Mock tests, mock practice stations (SQE2), English writing tasks, SQE Skills Online interactive exercises |
