Updates to the MCT Course (June 2017)

Important update on anti-money laundering to be released this week

Tomorrow, the 26th of June 2017, the European Union Fourth Anti-Money Laundering Directive No. 2015/849 and the new Money Laundering Regulations 2017 are coming into force in the UK. The change will affect the MCT syllabus (Outcome A4), and will require amendments to our course material. Despite the close proximity of the commencement of the new law to the July 2017 MCT exam, Kaplan has confirmed to us that the position remains as stated on their website that "unless otherwise stated in advance candidates are assessed on the law in force at the time of the assessment." No such advance statement is being made by Kaplan, therefore you will need to know the new law for the upcoming July exam.

Our tutors have been working hard in the last of couple of weeks to complete the necessary updates to the course materials on time, and we are pleased to inform that we will release this week an update which will include the necessary amendments on money laundering.

The Criminal Finances Act 2017 which received Royal Assent on the 27th of April 2017 (and affect the law on money laundering), is, on the other hand, in existence but not yet in force. A Commencement Order to be made to bring the CFA 2017 into effect is expected in September 2017. We will monitor the situation and notify once the new Act comes info force. However, this will not be tested in the July 2017 exam.

Please make sure to log-in to your account and download the update on money laundering before you sit the exam. If you are not signed up yet for the MCT course, visit our course packages page to learn more about our offering.
